About me
Retirement offered me the opportunity to learn a new skill. I had always been interested in the art of the silversmith, and I welcomed the opportunity to learn how to make jewellery.
My journey began with classes on the basic skills. Covid interrupted further classes at this time so I concentrated on learning to use wire and gems creatively.
On discovering the existence of sea glass I became very excited.
With the help of a cousin, a silversmith who specialises in sea glass jewellery, I learned how to drill and create pieces that, because of the nature of sea glass, are unique.
Covid over - classes became possible and the discovery of Silver Clay opened up so many possibilities.
I am still learning.
Living in a deeply rural area I am fascinated by the inspiration available from nature, and now cannot look at flora and fauna without wondering how I can interpret these in my jewellery.
I showcase my creations when I can in local Craft and Produce
Shows.
In addition, the Giving Tree, In Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire, sells some of my items. You can find this delightful shop at the top of The Cobbles, tucked in the corner between The Town Hall and The House On Crutches Museum.
